The Campaign for Art

We are committed to inspiring new perspectives by collecting, conserving, and displaying modern and contemporary art. But we can’t do it alone. That’s why, in 2009, we launched the Campaign for Art. Our goal was to deepen and expand SFMOMA’s artwork collection in order to provide our visitors with a broader view of modern and contemporary art.

After seven years, over 200 donors, and more than 3,000 works of art, our campaign came to a close in 2015. The works donated increased our collection by more than 10 percent. Our donors included collectors and artists, both local and international. Some had been involved with SFMOMA for years, while for others it was their first connection with us. Our gratitude for this outpouring of generosity is beyond expression.
