Befitting the rough aesthetic of the cardboard boxes, Rauschenberg chose to mount Rosalie/Red Cheek/Temporary Letter/Stock (Cardboard) with two roofing nails of the type that could be found in any hardware store. The sculpture is attached to the wall by hammering the nails directly through two crude holes in the work’s cardboard and plywood backing.
