​LeiLani Nishime

LeiLani Nishime is an Associate Professor of Communication and an Adjunct Professor of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington where she teaches and researches race, gender, and sexuality in the media. She’s written a book about mixed race Asian Americans – Undercover Asians: Multiracial Asian Americans in Visual Culture (2014) – and has published on science fiction, Asian American popular culture, and social inequality. She is the Grants Manager for the Seattle Asian American Film Festival and a board member of the Association of Asian American Studies and the Critical Mixed Race Studies Association.
