Higher Education at SFMOMA

While guided group visits are currently on pause, SFMOMA continues to offer opportunities for higher education classes to engage with the museum. Through self-guided visits, independent viewing passes, virtual visits with staff, and our quarterly higher ed newsletter, we seek to connect students and faculty to our unique collections and exhibitions, as well as provide support for programs connecting the academic community to the museum and beyond.

Self-guided visits for Bay Area college and university classes

We invite Bay Area college and university instructors to request complimentary tickets for their classes to visit the museum as a self-guided group. We kindly ask that all groups split into smaller groups of ten or fewer people, and to avoid lecturing or presenting in the galleries. To request tickets, email tours@sfmoma.org with your name, institution, course title, number of students, and preferred date and time. Please allow ten days’ advance notice.

Independent viewing passes for Bay Area higher education students

We invite Bay Area college and university instructors to request independent viewing passes for students to visit the museum on their own. To request passes, email tours@sfmoma.org with your name, institution, course title, and number of students. Please allow ten days’ advance notice.

Virtual discussion with staff

Invite an SFMOMA staff member into your virtual classroom! Email inquiries to tours@sfmoma.org.
