Craft Corner: Creative Mending

Related Exhibition Ruth Asawa: Retrospective

Thursday, June 26, 2025

5–7:30 p.m.

Floor 2, Koret Education Center

Free and open to the public; museum admission is not required.

Join Sequoia Fabrica for a creative evening of clothing customization, refashioning, and visible mending. Bring your own T-shirt, sweatshirt, or favorite yet damaged knits, jeans, or jackets and make them special! Make your well-loved clothes last longer by exploring Sashiko-inspired embroidery techniques, basic cloth repair techniques (reattaching buttons, patching, darning), and cloth prints — either adding a personalized touch or offering your garment a second life.

Sequoia Fabrica’s crew of expert menders and makers will provide demos and guidance, making sure you can save your special clothing through your own handiwork. This event is open to absolute beginners — even if you’ve never held a needle, don’t be afraid to participate!

Craft Corner will be a three-part series of hands-on workshops for all ages and skill levels. Stay tuned to our Events page for more dates.

Never miss an event update!

About the Presenter

To build great things, you need good tools and good community. Sequoia Fabrica offers both!

Sequoia Fabrica is a San Francisco–based nonprofit that supports artistic and scientific explorations by removing financial and structural barriers that limit access to arts and maker education — in fiber arts, fine arts, electronics, woodworking, and more. They offer affordable access to machines, classes, and events for local artists, youth, and the broader community.
