See the world through the eyes of the collector at this special free community day in celebration of the opening of Matisse’s Femme au chapeau: A Modern Scandal and our new presentation, Reimagined: The Fisher Collection at 10. Hear directly from Bay Area collectors about the treasures they’ve spent a lifetime chasing — and cap it all off with a performance by drag performers and San Francisco icons from the inimitable House of MORE!, led by Juanita MORE!, a hat collector extraordinaire in her own right.

Event Schedule

Drag Performances by the House of MORE!

1 p.m. + 3 p.m.
Floor 1, Phyllis Wattis Theater

The House of MORE! will showcase some of San Francisco’s finest drag performers. The entertainers have more than 200 years of stage experience between them and have left audiences screaming with both fear and joy at their high-energy, campy comedy performances.

San Francisco has long been a sanctuary for LGBTQIA+ communities. As we face increasing discrimination nationwide, we aim to elevate voices in a safe space for expression, joy, and acceptance.

Featured performers: Juanita MORE!, Ehra Amaya, Mary Vice, Mojo Carter, Tito Soto, Luismi Munster, Dulce De Leche, Pseuda, and Helixer.

Family Studio with SCRAP: Collection-edition!

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Koret Education Center

Join SCRAP for a game of I Spy — something red, something round, something fuzzy…SCRAP will provide many kinds of objects to choose from. Fill a small container with your very own starter collection and take it home (or plan a visit to SCRAP’s creative reuse depot) to add even more treasures!

Spotlight on Collectors

11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Floor 4, Gina and Stuart Peterson White Box

Not all treasures live in museums — some live in archives, libraries, or right at home sweet home. Hear from Bay Area collectors and see their unique collections up close, spanning zines, archival film, baseball history, photography, and beyond.

Featured collectors: Austin Leong, The SFAI Legacy Foundation + Archive, Lenore Chinn, Letterform Archive, Juanita MORE!, Prelinger Archives, SFMOMA Library and Archives, San Francisco Giants (Hands on History), San Francisco Public Library, and San Francisco Zine Fest.
