Join us in the galleries with furniture maker Jeff Jamieson, who fabricated many of the pieces on view in Donald Judd: Specific Furniture. In conversation with Associate Curator of Architecture and Design Joseph Becker, Jamieson will shed light on both the making and the philosophy of the furniture, as well as his close working relationship with Judd.
Jeff Jamieson worked with Donald Judd from 1988 until Judd’s death in 1994. In 1994, Jamieson moved the woodshop to the central California coast. Since 2003, he has been working with artist Robert Irwin and has fabricated and installed Irwin’s scrim pieces all over the world, with Dawn to Dusk opening at the Chinati Foundation in 2016. Jamieson is an artist in his own right, and taught 2-D and 3-D design and sculpture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He graduated from SFAI in 1984 with a BFA in ceramic sculpture.
