Join us in celebration of the opening of Ramekon O’Arwisters’s presentation In Between in the Koret Education Center.
With In Between, O’Arwisters draws on decades of multidisciplinary practice in textiles and craft to create a space that reflects his lived experience, his sources of inspiration, and his pursuit of calm, healing, and resilience within and through the unknown. What emerges is the understanding that creativity is rarely solitary; rather it is something we create together, rooted in different forms of shared experience. In this way, collective creative presence becomes its own way of knowing.
In that spirit, join us for an evening of meditation, music, and meaningful connection as we gather in community. The evening will begin with a brief meditation led by O’Arwisters, followed by a performance by Azere Wilson.

Ramekon O’Arwisters is a San Francisco–based multimedia artist exploring textile and crafting traditions through found-object abstract sculpture and socially engaged community projects. Born in North Carolina, O’Arwisters earned a master’s degree in divinity from Duke University Divinity School in 1986. His works have been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, the Museum of the African Diaspora (San Francisco, CA), and the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles (San Jose, CA). O’Arwisters has received numerous grants and awards, including the Artadia Fund for Art and Dialogue, the McLaughlin Foundation Award for The Project Space, and the Eureka Fellowship. His ongoing socially engaged community art-making project, Crochet Jam, has been presented at various institutions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and ICA San Francisco.
