SOMA Pilipinas Pride returns for its second year, highlighting the history and presence of the LGBTQIA+ community in San Francisco’s Filipino Cultural Heritage District.
The MAKIBEKI Pride Celebration (MAKIBEKI is a playful blend of makibaka, meaning to “struggle, resist, defy” in Tagalog) builds upon the community’s legacy of resistance against displacement and erasure, and celebrates queer and trans Filipinx/os whose presence has always shaped the community.
Join SOMA Pilipinas and the Mabuhay Bitches in celebrating the beauty, power, creativity, and joy of the Filipino/a/x LGBTQIA+ community as we take up space, show out, and bring the energy of the perya to SOMA Pilipinas!
