Photographer Alfred Stieglitz and painter Georgia O’Keeffe traded more than five thousand letters over the course of their relationship as acquaintances, lovers, and eventually husband and wife. Sarah Greenough’s recent publication My Far Away One: Selected Letters of Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz tracks 650 of the famous couple’s exchanges, written between 1915 and 1933. Join us in honor of Valentine’s Day as we celebrate the intimate correspondence between two influential artists. Works by the two artists can be seen in the SFMOMA collection exhibitions Selected Histories (O’Keeffe) and Picturing Modernity (Stieglitz).
