Spend Halloween in the dark with a horror anthology helmed by four directors whose collective work provides a feminist perspective on the once male-dominated genre. The quartet of tales is strikingly faithful to the traditional horror tropes and, while they’re narratively disparate, they all center on complex female characters shouldering fears and anxieties around motherhood, family dynamics, friendship, and an overarching existential dread. Sofia Carrillo’s eerie Jan Svankmajer-esque animation sequences keep these stories strung together as if by a creepy connective tissue. Includes the directorial debut of Annie Clark of the band St. Vincent!
