Artcast August 2008

This episode focuses on the exhibition Half-Life of a Dream: Contemporary Chinese Art from the Logan Collection, which reveals the difficulties Chinese artists face as they struggle to reconcile their individual dreams with the collective dream of Communism under Mao. In addition to commentary by guest curator Jeff Kelley, visitors share their insights and questions about the show. In memoriam of artist Bruce Conner, the program also features excerpts from a 2005 interview in which he discusses his work, and an ode to Conner by world-renowned cellist and composer Joan Jeanrenaud. Each SFMOMA Artcast brings you illuminating audio and video interviews with artists, curators, and visitors as they respond to the work on view at SFMOMA.
