Zack Fox to Headline SFMOMA’s Art Bash on April 23
Auction Offers Works by Amy Sherald, Ruth Asawa, Charles Gaines, Christina Quarles + Nicolas Party

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 13, 2025, updated April 10, 2025)—The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will host Art Bash—one of the Bay Area’s most anticipated celebrations of art and artists—on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Art Bash is SFMOMA’s signature fundraising event, transforming the iconic museum into an immersive playground of creativity and community.

Art Bash raises over $2 million annually, and every ticket purchase helps fund the museum’s much-loved education and family programs and community engagement events, which benefit over 150,000 people every year. Throughout the night, guests can anticipate a memorable evening packed with art activations, music, performances and incredible food and drink.
Multitalented performer Zack Fox will headline the Art Bash party with a DJ set, presented in part by Community Partner Stern Grove Festival. In addition to being a popular DJ who seamlessly blends a variety of genres, Zack Fox is a comedian, social media personality, writer and actor who is well known for his role as Tariq on ABC’s Abbott Elementary.
At this year’s Art Bash, Dinner ticket holders will join artists, art lovers and community leaders at 6 p.m. for a unique experience designed by internationally acclaimed visual artist Firelei Báez, who explores diasporic narratives through painting, sculpture and immersive installations. Báez will transform SFMOMA’s Floor 7 galleries into a primordial woodland of mystery and wonder. The artist has designed a custom projection for this celebration, creating an environment where past and future possibilities converge through color, pattern and symbolism.
During Dinner, guests can also participate in a dynamic live auction led by Sotheby’s auctioneer Phyllis Kao. This year’s Art Bash auction will offer artworks by Amy Sherald, Ruth Asawa, Charles Gaines, Christina Quarles and Nicolas Party, plus a Ruth Asawa: Retrospective gallery experience. Images and more details can be found here, and the artworks will be on view at SFMOMA by appointment April 14–18, 2025.

As night falls, 2,000 fellow art lovers will gather for a museumwide party until 1 a.m. featuring immersive art activations by Bay Area artists Masako Miki in the Gina and Stuart Peterson White Box and Jeffrey Sincich in Steps Coffee. The night will also include an exciting musical lineup presented in part by Community Partner Stern Grove Festival.

Soul singer Martin Luther, recognized as one of San Francisco’s premier talents, will perform in the Premium Party Lounge. At the Art Bash party, performers will include DJ Shortkut and DJ Lady Ryan, the beloved Bay Area DJ known for inspiring joy and belonging through her music.
Art Bash guests will be able to glimpse into the local underground LGBTQ+ ballroom scene with host Legendary Ryan “Christopher” Milan and commentator Icon Enyce Gorgeous Gucci. Fabulous fashion, creative expression and fierce competition will be on view as contestants hit the runway and battle it out for the grand prize.
All partygoers will be invited to take part in Valentino’s immersive photo booth experience. Take home a piece of Art Bash with artist-designed giveaways. SFMOMA is partnering with Creativity Explored artist Christina Marie Fong, Creative Growth artist Franna Lusson and NIAD Art Center artist Maria Radilla to create custom tote bags that will be screen-printed live by San Franpsycho.
