SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 29, 2024; updated April 16, 2024)—The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) invites art enthusiasts to join us on April 24, 2024, for Art Bash, SFMOMA’s biggest party of the year, celebrating visionary art and inspirational artists. For one unforgettable night at the museum, Art Bash attendees experience a party like no other, with fabulous art, music, food and drink and surprises throughout the museum. Art Bash helps fund SFMOMA’s education and family programs and community engagement events, benefiting over 150,000 people every year and making extraordinary art more accessible.
This year’s Art Bash begins at 5 p.m. with a cocktail reception and an immersive dinner experience designed by iconic filmmaker and installation artist Isaac Julien, featuring photography and large-scale images from the artist’s series Ten Thousand Waves. The dinner program will feature a dynamic live auction led by a Christie’s charity auctioneer.
The Art Bash dinner will be followed by an elevated lounge experience for dinner guests opening at 8 p.m., including Solo to Symphony, a multidisciplinary installation conceived by Bay Area–based artist Richard Misrach. Dancers from Alonzo King LINES Ballet will lead dinner guests to the Premium Party Lounge for a performance. Misrach’s activation in the Premium Party Lounge showcases a floor-to-ceiling installation of the artist’s beloved Golden Gate series, large-scale prints of his photography and a video from Ocean Series, one of Misrach’s collaborations with Alonzo King LINES Ballet.
Starting at 8 p.m. in SFMOMA’s Gina and Stuart Peterson White Box a lively activation by painter and muralist Chelsea Ryoko Wong will captivate partygoers, bringing her painting Many Moons I’ve Dreamt of You to life with custom animations, a dance floor and lounge, together with music by DJ Alex Shen of Lower Grand Radio and a bar with cocktails crafted by the team at The Mushroom.
Grammy-nominated artist Tierra Whack—known for her creative lyricism as a rapper and singer—will perform on the main stage at Art Bash. Tierra Whack’s appearance at Art Bash follows the recent release of her much-anticipated new album, World Wide Whack. Partygoers will also dance to Bay Area DJ crew Sazon Libre and have a ball in club OASIS, as the acclaimed San Francisco drag show and cabaret takes over SFMOMA’s Floor 5 rooftop. Guests can also explore fascinating artworks on view in more than a dozen exhibitions across SFMOMA, including Yayoi Kusama: Infinite Love.
