SFMOMA Announces 16 Finalists for 2026 SECA Art Award
WHAT:
SFMOMA announces the finalists for its biannual SECA Art Award—spotlighting exceptional Bay Area artists whose work at the time of nomination has not received substantial recognition from a major institution. The award is the culmination of a process consisting of nominations, portfolio reviews, studio visits and discussions with SFMOMA’s curators and SECA members.

ABOUT THE SECA ART AWARD:
Since 1967, the Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art (SECA) Art Award has honored more than 90 Bay Area artists with an exhibition at SFMOMA and an accompanying publication. More about the SECA Art Award here: sfmoma.org/seca-art-award
TIMELINE:
The 2026 SECA Art Award recipients will be announced in April, and their work will be featured in the 2026 SECA Art Award exhibition on view December 12, 2026–May 30, 2027, on SFMOMA’s Floor 2. The 2026 SECA Art Award exhibition is curated by Alison Guh, assistant curator of painting and sculpture, and Delphine Sims, assistant curator of photography, and it will be accompanied by a publication.
SECA MEMBERSHIP:
SECA celebrates the local art scene, building community among creatives and the art-curious through educational and social programs. SECA members enjoy tours and talks at local arts organizations, artist-run spaces, and more. Every other year, SECA members are called upon to nominate local artists for this prestigious award and exhibition at SFMOMA.
