Transnational abstract painter Frank Bowling began his career in London and visited his birth country Guyana before arriving in New York in 1966. The decade he spent there was transformative for his practice and was the birthplace of major bodies of work, including his oceanic Map Paintings. Let’s travel back in time to an afternoon in 1969, where we join the artist in his studio for a casual chat about his practice and a spray-paint stencil demonstration.
