Jon Rubin’s Pictures Collected From Museum Visitors’ Wallets

In the age of smart phones, how many people still carry photos of loved ones in their wallets? In 2000, Jon Rubin and Harrell Fletcher gathered and displayed ten photos that museum visitors happened to be carrying with them in their wallets. The project not only imbued photos with new meaning, but also prompted museum-goers to consider Rubin’s feeling that “perhaps… what is miraculous is already in your back pocket or your handbag.”
