Larry Sultan: Documenting a hidden side of the suburbs

Photographer Larry Sultan considers the implications of his series The Valley (1997–2003), for which he made pictures of ordinary homes that were used as sets for pornographic films. He discusses his desire to represent the suburbs of L.A. as “compelling, complicated, and rich.”
