Matthew Ritchie on the game of chance

Artist Matthew Ritchie discusses the story behind The Gamblers (1998), an installation that incorporated a group of paintings, a wall drawing, and a large floor piece. The works tell the story of the creation of the universe, utilizing a vocabulary that includes a layering of abstract and figurative shapes, color schemes reminiscent of 1950s interior design, and graphic forms inspired by scientific notation.
