Get inspired by artworks from RM’s personal collection and create your own take-home piece in our art-making pop-up experience. There’s no right way to be creative here, just curiosity and a willingness to try. Meditate on color with custom-made watercolor paints from Case for Making, create a clay figurine with Viviana Matsuda from Mudwitch, or make a print with artist Ji Young Lee.
Note: For the printmaking activity, we encourage you to bring your own used fabric to print on — think tees, totes, or kitchen towels. We will have some extras available.

Alexis Joseph is the founder of Case for Making, a San Francisco–based art supply shop, watercolor paint–making studio, and creative community. Case for Making creates handmade watercolors, curates thoughtfully chosen art materials, and offers online and in-person workshops that invite people to slow down, experiment, and build confidence through making. Alexis is especially interested in helping people understand how materials behave, from pigment and water to paper and brush. Through Case for Making, she brings a warm, hands-on approach to teaching and connecting people with the tools and ideas they need to build a creative practice of their own. Instagram: @caseformaking
Ji Young Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She came to the US to study economics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After working in the financial industry for several years, Lee returned to her childhood love of art. She was trained at the Atelier School of Classical Realism in Oakland and is the author and illustrator of several picture books. She now lives and paints in San Francisco. Her current works include a graphic memoir and a series of large canvases that seek to convey her love of the female form in water.
Viviana Matsuda: “My name is Viviana Matsuda and I am a queer Japanese Mexican artist from San Francisco. My dad was a ceramicist and when he passed away I was left with a bunch of pottery supplies. I took a ceramics class as a creative outlet to work through my grief. Using my hands to turn earth was therapeutic. I spent hours making all sorts of random forms with no intentions. Some are chubby like me and have uneven curves. The colorful pieces are smooth or rough, some have freckles, and are all so beautiful in their diversity.” Learn more at www.mudwitch.com.
