Director Demy’s only American film, Model Shop tracks a day in the life of Los Angeles native George Matthews (Gary Lockwood). Unemployed and unhappy in love, George’s bleak future is suddenly altered by a chance meeting with a beautiful woman dressed in white. After following the mysterious figure, a French woman named Lola (Anouk Aimee), to various corners of the city, he finds himself in her bizarre place of work known as “the model shop.” As L.A. is transformed into one of the film’s characters over the course of George’s 24-hour journey, the momentary lovers undergo changes of their own. Preceded by two episodes of Bucky.
