New ideas. No boundaries.

SFMOMA is committed to advancing new ideas about artists and artworks, and pushing the boundaries of museum practice. Working directly with artists, we seek out innovative approaches to the exhibition, conservation, and interpretation of our collection. From the intersection of art and technology to the depth of a single artist’s work, our research projects play a key role in our efforts to present the art for our time.

Rauschenberg Research Project

The Rauschenberg Research Project provides free worldwide access to a wealth of scholarly research and documentation related to artworks by Robert Rauschenberg in SFMOMA’s collection.

PlaySFMOMA is a museum initiative that supports the development of avant-garde and artist-made games, and investigates instances of games and interactive play throughout art history.
