Deep Cuts: Griff Williams on Rex Ray

Learn more about the diverse voices represented in the collection. One Friday each month, local experts highlight hidden gems that push the boundaries, defy expectations, and inspire deep reflection. This week, Griff Williams examines the work of Rex Ray.

Williams is an artist, educator, and the founder of Gallery 16 in San Francisco, which opened in 1993. His background as an artist and art advocate has taken many forms. He has worked in Washington D.C., lobbying Congress on behalf of the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as an art educator at SFAI and CCA.
As an artist, his paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe.
