Sunday, June 17, 2007

11 a.m.

Celebrate Father’s Day at SFMOMA as the Museum opens its doors for a daylong celebration of creativity in all its incarnations. Using the exhibition Matisse: Painter as Sculptor as a starting point, explore a variety of art-making tools and ideas through hands-on art projects, led by guest artist Barbara Carbone and Christine Choi, and Wednesday Kirwan.

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. local music-makers Baguette Quartette perform tunes from the cafes and streets of early 20th-century Paris, and at 2:00 p.m. the Youth Circus Group of the San Francisco Circus presents the world premiere of “Impressions,” an exhilarating performance set in a museum where the artwork comes to life.

A reduced admission fee makes it easier for parents to use the Museum as an educational and recreational space for the whole family. Registration is not necessary.
