Join SFMOMA and KQED to explore contemporary artist Kerry James Marshall’s compelling and colorful work. Commissioned for SFMOMA’s Haas Atrium, Marshall created two murals that investigate history and its representation in works of art. In this workshop, teachers will discover new ways to incorporate Marshall’s ideas and concepts into their curricula. Educators from SFMOMA and KQED-Spark will lead this professional development session, which will include a discussion and hands-on art activity led by a published graphic novelist. Participants will receive a video about Marshall’s installation process produced by KQED-Spark, along with substantive curricular materials designed by SFMOMA and KQED.
