Teacher Institutes during the school year are free and include museum admission. Space is limited and an application is required.

This Open Studio workshop uses photography, audio, and mixed-media collage to document, honor, and celebrate héroes locales (local heroes) who live in our communities. Together, educators will explore building classroom projects that center Bay Area-based artist and SECA Art Award recipient Marcel Pardo Ariza’s vital practice of celebrating the people who create positive change on a local level. Pardo Ariza will facilitate this Teacher Institute, which includes an artist-led tour of their SECA installation, I am Very Lucky, Very Lucky to be Trans, on SFMOMA’s Floor 2. A light breakfast and entry to the museum is included for all participants.
