In The Studio Sessions, a video installation by Kevin Atherton brings into dialogue two recordings of the artist projected simultaneously: one of him in 2006 answering questions posed by his younger self in a 1978 recording. Zimbardo takes this self-reflective artwork as the starting point for a discussion of the artist’s double as a form of portraiture in contemporary video art and photography.
