On a Clear Day

Agnes Martin and Mark Bradford
July 18, 2019–January 27, 2020
Floor 4

This installation pairs works by Agnes Martin (1912–2004) and Mark Bradford (b. 1961), two American artists who share a deep commitment to exploring observation and memory through abstraction. Through humble materials, ordered structures, and traces of the artists’ own hands, Martin and Bradford fill their work with subtle beauty and a sense of potential. Both use abstraction to consider our place in the world, offering it as a lens through which we can examine where we live and what paths our lives might follow.
