Approximately 260 small-format photographs, spanning the late 1880s to the 1980s, will be presented in this exhibition which explores amateur, domestic photography in a museum context, examining the borderline between what museums display and what visitors might themselves create with a camera. The exemplary group of anonymous photographs demonstrates the potential for untutored, unintended “masterpieces” possible only with photography.
This exhibition is generously sponsored by Jon and Linda Gruber, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Walker Jr., and Banana Republic.
