New Work: Paul Sietsema (installation view, SFMOMA), 2008

Foreword by Neal Benezra; texts and interviews by Jenny Gheith and Tanya Zimbardo

40 pages, 7 ½ x 10 inches, hardcover with slipcase

Published in 2013

For the first time in the history of SFMOMA’s biennial award program honoring Bay Area artists, the museum commissioned the four recipients of the 2012 SECA Art Award to create work outside the traditional gallery context. The artists, Zarouhie Abdalian, Josh Faught, Jonn Herschend, and David Wilson, designed site-responsive projects in and around San Francisco ranging from drawing to performance, sound, video, and sculpture. This exhibition catalogue documents the works in fold-out color images, inviting readers to reflect on their experience of the urban environment even after the commissions are no longer on view. It also features interviews and texts by the co-curators of the 2012 award, Jenny Gheith and Tanya Zimbardo, as well as illustrations of previous work by the four recipients. David Wilson created original artwork for the dustcover, which expands into a poster detailing his one-day walk to four commission-related locations.
