Every two years, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art celebrates Bay Area artists and the local creative community with the SECA Art Award. Established in 1967 by The Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art (SECA), an auxiliary of SFMOMA, this biennial award honors artists whose work has not yet received significant recognition from major institutions and provides a platform for expanding their practices and sharing their work with new audiences.

The 2024 SECA Art Award celebrates Rose D’Amato, Angela Hennessy, and Rupy C. Tut—each artist conceiving a gallery with new works that bring distinct perspectives, processes, and materials into the museum. Published to accompany the exhibition at SFMOMA, this publication highlights the unique work of the awardees while offering a glimpse into current directions in Bay Area art.
