Welcome to SFMOMA’s virtual Second Sundays, a monthly series that includes a reading with a librarian from the San Francisco Public Library, followed by a guided art activity you can do at home. In this installment, we’ll be focusing on pioneering pop artist Andy Warhol!
Did you know Andy Warhol loved cats? He had many of them! In this storytime, SFPL’s Miss Pauline reads Uncle Andy’s Cats, written and illustrated by James Warhola and published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers.
Now that you know a little bit about Andy Warhol, it’s time to make a project inspired by him! We’re taking a cue from his “National Velvet” (1963) and adding a few more pops of color, just for fun! Watch the video to see the project come to life, and browse the written instructions and materials list below.
Generous support for Second Sundays is provided by the John & Marcia Goldman Family Free Sundays Endowment Fund.
