This detail of the back of Rauschenberg’s Sleep for Yvonne Rainer (1965) shows the artist’s signature and an inscription specifying that the small panels attached to the piece by chains may be rearranged on the hooks embedded in the work’s surface or hung from any point on the wall within reach of the chains.
