Timed entry helps to ensure that all visitors enjoy their SFMOMA experience. Please enter the special exhibition queue at your exhibition start time. There is a 30-minute grace period for timed entry; entry is not guaranteed if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your ticketed time. Early entry is prohibited.
Should I order my timed tickets in advance?
Yes! Visitors should reserve tickets in advance for guaranteed timed entry. Get your tickets online as dates and time slots do sell out.
I am a member. Do I need to reserve timed tickets?
Yes! Members should reserve tickets in advance for guaranteed timed entry. Get your tickets online as dates and time slots do sell out. Your username is the email address associated with your member account. Individual members are entitled to eight (8) free timed tickets, with a limit of two (2) per day. Dual members and above are entitled to sixteen (16) free timed tickets, with a limit of four (4) per day.
Is my timed ticket valid all day?
Your ticket does allow all-day access to SFMOMA. Your timed ticket is a one-time entry to the special exhibition and reentry is not permitted.
What is the best way to purchase a timed ticket onsite?
Onsite ticketing and member services lines are often busy. We suggest visitors come early to reserve timed tickets, as day-of tickets can sell out quickly. Timed tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do children require timed tickets?
Yes; children 18 and under are free but still require a timed ticket to special exhibitions.
What if I miss my entry time?
If you arrive more than 30 minutes after the time on your ticket, entry is not guaranteed.
What if I purchased General Admission tickets and I want to see the timed ticketed exhibition?
You can upgrade your general admission to include timed-ticket special exhibition entry onsite at the Ticketing Desk on Floor 2.
I want to take a Public Tour of the timed ticketed exhibition. Does my entry time need to match the tour’s start time?
Your entry time can be before or after the tour’s start time, but you must register for a Public Tour on the day it happens, at the Information Desk on Floor 2. We are not able to take phone registrations or allow sign-ups before the day of the tour. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check the Public Tour schedule.
