The museum will be closed September 14–16, 2026 for a private event. The Museum Store will remain open to the public from 3rd Street.
Organized by Open Space, the museum’s interdisciplinary platform for contemporary arts and culture, Limited Edition celebrates distinct voices in the local and national performance scene. Inspired in part by Robert Rauschenberg: Erasing the Rules, the winter 2018 program takes a thematic look at artistic lineage, exploring a range of connections in contemporary performance. In addition to live programs presented at SFMOMA and sister institutions CounterPulse, ODC Theater, The Lab, and Z Space, keep an eye out on Open Space for newly commissioned texts investigating issues of legacy, appropriation, and ownership in performance art.
