Hung Liu: There’s dignity in a woman handling a machine

Artist Hung Liu used an old photograph as a source for Loom (1999), a painting of a woman working on a loom, combining it with rich colors and traditional Chinese imagery of birds and flowers that came to her mind as she worked.
